I'm beginning to think that I have no choice but to go all digital because there just isn't a viable Blu-Ray option.įor quite a while now, I’ve kept Mac DVDRipper Pro and HandBrake on my Mac, not because I’ve had frequent need for them but because I’ve occasionally had use for them. I want my movies in digital format, but I feel safer having a physical format to pull from if something ever goes wrong. Most are fake, or simply fail completely. I would love to find a Blu-Ray ripper that actually works so I can watch my BD collection on the Apple TV, but I've searched the web high and low and it simply doesn't exist on the Mac. This is clearly a key part of the Blu-Ray encryption process, and MakeMKV cannot handle it. Only one is correct, and MakeMKV doesn't know which one, so it wants to do them all. The scenes are all out of order for 299 of them. Most of the time there's like 300 versions of the film that it wants to import. However, the deal-breaker is that it only works with about 15-25% of discs I've tried. It's not the most intuitive process and I wish you could pick other outputs, but it's all we've got. I get a nice gigantic mkv file that I can convert to a better (smaller) format.

MakeMKV is a format converter, otherwise called "transcoder". Sorry for the long post I just hate seeing people who have an instinct to help but who choose instead to say "I won't help you, go and do it yourself".MakeMKV is your one-click solution to convert video that you own into a free and patents-unencumbered format that can be played everywhere. Your second reply was incredibly helpful and really cleared things up for me - if you're fed up with people asking the same question, maybe the way to look at it is "there's something systemic that stops people being able to easily find this information - I will help them find it". It would be so much easier to provide a link - or, in your case, to simply say "hi - I've got a link to the latest key in my sig if it's not updated, you might need to wait a few days". I can find no way, apart from buying it (which I can't afford to do at this point, but will be happy to do at some point), to do what people are saying "do a search!" to do. After wading through a lot of "do a search!" repies, all I can find is an expired beta key. Well, I'm clever, and I cannot find a way to get my beta working. When someone says "you should've searched", they're actually saying "why aren't you clever enough to do what I easily do?"

A lot of people really don't know how to find the information they need, a lot of people don't know how to use the information they get. I know you mean well, but ultimately the "let me google that for you"-type response is sarcastic and judgemental, and doesn't take into account the fact that people have vastly different abilities and experience. Secondly, when you do a search for "expired", a massive number of results come back with the same sort of hostile "do a search", "everyone has asked this before" etc. I registered just to say, this kind of response ends up being pretty hostile, even though you meant well.įirstly, the word "key" is ignored when doing searches - so you are telling people to do a search that does not even return the results you're talking about.
